Earthquake in New Zealand

The death toll from the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that demolished parts of Christchurch, New Zealand, has climbed to 145, police said Saturday.

Although the rescue and recovery operation has been boosted by personnel from China, the US and the UK., the hope for finding survivors of Tuesday’s devastating earthquake is fading.

The official death toll continues to climb, and searches continued for over 200 people who are still missing. Many of the people missing are feared dead.

CNN Wire Staff. “New Zealand Quake Death Toll Rises to 145.” CNN, 26 Feb 2011.

Please pray …

  1. For the search and rescue effort in Christchurch.
  2. For the families of the people who died in the earthquake and for the people who are still missing.
  3. That the churches and Christians in New Zealand would provide eternal hope to survivors of the earthquake and that people would turn to Christ during this difficult time.
