This is Jason Cheng and we wanted to update you on the current status of the trip. It’s been an eventful journey since we left O’Hare this morning, but we are finally landed and settled into J-House. We started travel at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday and made it to J-House at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday. Needless to say, people are exhausted, but we’re excited for the ministry to come. We wanted to give you a summary of the upcoming schedule and what ministries we will be participating in.
Every weekday we’ll be visiting campuses to try to talk to and reach out to any college students. We’ll be on campus trying to meet them through different activities such as eating lunch, throwing a Frisbee, or just striking up a conversation. Please pray as none of us are very experienced and we’re visibly nervous. Yet, we’re excited to have the chance to share the love of God with anyone that we meet.
Additionally, we’ll be participating in homeless ministry tomorrow! Please pray for Mike Liu as he shares his testimony and for myself (Jason) as I preach. After Mike and I share, the team will be praying for as many people as possible. We’re hoping that these people who came to get bread for the day would receive so much more than that.
On the weekends we’ll be helping with J-House’s church plants in Kobe and Kyoto. There, we’ll go out onto the streets handing out flyers to whoever will take them, invite them to a Christian worship service, and then eating with them afterwards. Through this ministry they are hoping to find people who are open to the gospel and to build up a community to eventually plant a church.
On Sunday we’ll be helping out at J-House however they need us. Some people may be asked to volunteer in the gospel choir, while some of us most definitely will not be asked. Otherwise there will be places in small group ministries, children’s ministry, testimonies to share and other areas to help build up the body of believers at J-House. It’s our one and only Sunday there so we really want to be as much of a blessing as possible to the church.
As a team we are so excited for all of the ministry that is ahead of us, but there is also a lot of fear and anxiety as well. Please pray for the team as we try to be faithful to the work that He has called us to. We are so thankful for your prayers and for your partnership. We will be updating the blog daily with a different team member giving an in-depth overview of our day so please check back frequently and pray for us.
Look forward to the next update =)
